Malacanang issued Proclamation No. 175 on May 20 declaring June 24 a special non-working day in Manila. Manilenos will celebrate the occasion with ceremonies and other meaningful activities on the said date. Kudos Manilenos! Also June 24 is the day of nativity of St. John the Baptist. San Juan, Manila will celebrate the day by splashing of water on any passersby. It symbolizes the work of St. John's cleansing of original sin. In the southern part of Luzon, Balayan, Batangas, they celebrate the day with Parada ng Lechon. Street parties and splashing of water are also a part of the feast day.
