Happy Halloween!

The weather is fine now. Santi just crossed NCR, Central and Southern Luzon in just 12 hours. Giving way for us to celebrate halloween with fair weather this weekend. We' ve finally decided to go home with our usual tradition to offer a prayer and visit the cemetery where my parents, ancestors and other loved one's remains are burried.

Have a Safe and Happy Halloween everyone!

Girls Talk: Favorite Accesories

Am I late again? O'lala. I surely will get the award for late GT entry. I am not even sure if Mcklinky is still open for link by this time. But anyway, I'm posting here some of my favorite accessories.

The above accessories are my favorite. A watch/bracelet/ring sets in silver and gold with precious stones in it where I can wear in formal or casual attire. I don't have any big dangle earrings even if those are fashionable and chic. I go for classic accessories.

Olympus or Nikon DSLR?

I was very disappointed last Sunday about my food photograph which was supposed to be my entry for Yummy Sunday. However how hard I tried for a perfect shot, I always end up either blurry or very dull. Photos with poor resolution. I asked some pro-photoblogger who are more experienced in choosing the best DSLR camera. Few have chosen Olympus and they reasoned out that accessories and services are just too hard to find while Nikon is very accessible. Others find Canon more handy. I am not yet convinced about choosing the latter. Anyways, this is just one of my wishlist, hoping that Santa would drop by in my blog.

thankful sunday

My brother is finally home!
Finally my brother landed safely last Sunday. We all waited for him eagerly, also welcomed by his wife and her one-year old daughter. Had lunch with family and a little talk before they headed home. "Mano po.." not the movie but the usual welcoming gestures or showing respect for elderly.

Email from my cuz!

Got an email from her, she is now in Maryland. Just to let you know that I'm happy knowing that you're enjoying your life and your career there as a nurse. I'm just so proud of you cuz.

weekend

Tomorrow will be the grand welcome for our dear brother who is arriving from abroad. We're going to meet him up in the airport together with my sisters, all of us. Banner? Nope, there's no banner, just a welcome hug. After 2 years, finally, our brother is coming home. Those who knew him, certainly won't be surprised why we're all excited. So excited! I'll be signing off early and will visit your blogs tomorrow. So goodnight folks! Have a happy weekend!

Shopwiki.com

Do you value your time? Do you know where to shop for better value and maximize your moneys worth? People now are too busy and values time more and so they find Shopwiki.com as the most convenient and effortless for them. Today shoppers can easily find anything in the internet. I never had any idea before that shopping would be this easy. When we moved to our new house, we choose to shop right at the appliance center or at the mall, but then I found it very tiring, until I found this site. In just one click, I was able to purchase all of my counter top like Food Processors, Stand Mixers, Hand Mixers, Blenders, Bread Machines, Toaster Ovens, Toasters, Slow Cookers, and Microwave Ovens. I was really amazed since another convenient shopping for large appliances can be found here too. Imagine how convenient it will be for you to shop large appliances like Refrigerators, Dishwashers, Trash and Compactors.

So how was that? What a cool and easy way of shopping. As a mom, I exactly know where to shop for other assorted kitchen guides like Cookbooks, Ceramics, Dinnerware and Flatware. I was able to buy my 6.5 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Electric Dryer. It makes no problem for me anymore even on my tons of laundry loads.
I can even spend more leisure time for my kids now. I value my time and shopping for me must be a real good investment.

girls talk: favorite dress

Better late than no entry, and that's my word of wisdom for today. (again) If Niko will give an award for late entries, that (surely) will be me.. (lol) Our girls talk for this week is about our favorite dress. Since I don't wear any dress, or even attend formal events for a long time, the only thing that you'll see in my closet is an old one and some jeans and shirts. I looked for a dress for photo op but was dismayed that the only dress I have is already worn out and too ugly for photo shoot. It's not even my favorite dress, just so happened to be the only dress that I have worn in my kids graduation day and some weddings that I have attended. So I put it aside since it already has served its purpose. Instead, I browsed the site from Debenhams and found this dress, to which I am just imagining right now of wearing this dress in the next 7 years, and that will be in my daughter's debut party. Would it be still in for fashion that time? This dress is worth £70.00 that equals the amount of 5,500 in philippine money. Just a wishful thinking that someday I can wear this dress too. Anyway, I still have many years to save money for this since I can't afford of buying this right now. I even need to slim down myself first for this lovely dress. Wordless Wednesday - Satisfied With An Ice Cream

my brother's coming home

I haven't blogged any about my brother.. he's the youngest in our siblings. He was 16 when our mother died. Realizing it's awfully sad for him losing a mother at his young age, we took the responsibility not only as sister but also as a mother to him. His life story is complicated and I think I will need a new blog site to post the story of his life. ^-^ My brother worked abroad for two years and it's hard to believe how time flies so fast. Those years helped him become matured in many ways. I felt like it was just yesterday when we were off to airport terminal and terribly worried about what life would there be waiting for him, being a stranger in a foreign land. I just can't believe right now, that I consider a miracle, how God touched his life. And now, I am just as excited for his coming, as my other sisters too. What added to this, is his excitement to see his little daughter who just turned one last August. I asked about pasalubong and my sisters answered me, "probably nothing." Haha. That's fine! My guess is that, he got nothing in his luggage but doll for his little princess. Well, it is more than enough for us that God answered our prayers. I am just so excited this coming weekend and for him, certainly, the longest weekday in his life. To you brother, have a happy and safe trip!

Each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible.- Viktor E. Frankl-

Tuesday Couch Potatoes: Supernatural

My daughters love supernatural or supernatural horror movies. I am not really a fan of this type of movie but they watched this film about three times and so the story has already been in detailed and a familiar one to me. This movie, The Grudge, is the 2004 American remake of the Japanese film Ju-on: The Grudge. This film has two sequels: the Grudge 2 and Grudge 3. The main character was played by Sarah Michelle Gellar. Also starring; Jason Behr, William Mapother, KaDee Strickland, Clea DuVall, Bill Pullman and Rosa Blasi.

The normal fa├žade of a modest house in Tokyo belies the hidden terror within. It is possessed by a violent plague that destroys the lives of everyone who enters. Known as 'The Grudge,' this curse causes its victims to die in the grip of a powerful rage. Those who are fatally afflicted by the curse die and a new curse is born--passed like a virus to all those who enter the house in an endless, growing chain of horror. Karen is an exchange student studying social work in Japan who innocently agrees to cover for a nurse who didn't show up for work. When she enters the assigned home, she discovers an elderly American woman, Emma, who is lost in a catatonic state while the rest of the house appears deserted and disheveled. As she is tending to the stricken old woman, Karen hears scratching sounds from upstairs. When she investigates, she is faced with a supernatural horror more frightening than she could ever imagine. Within this house, a chain of terror has been set in motion resulting from a terrifying evil that was born years before. As more people die, Karen is pulled into the cycle of horror and learns the secret of the vengeful curse that has taken root in this house. Now she must stop it before it's too late. (source)

family day for a cause

Here comes another storm and this is so surprising with international name "Lupit," ang lupit nga talaga, local name Ramil, that comes after Pepeng. They say that Filipinos are born survivor. The storm comes in three's, visiting the Philippine Island on weekends, Ondoy, Pepeng and Ramil. Three typhoon already in a row and I hope it will be the last to hit this year. Three calamities also hit the nearby country, earthquake, typhoon and tsunami. Malacanang Palace asks Filipinos to pray the "Oration Imperata" for Deliverance From Calamities.

Our supposed family day last September 27 was postponed due to storm that hit Manila and is now rescheduled tomorrow. Instead of the fabulous event, the school launched a fund raising program for the event (auctions, cash donations, etc.) The university joined the nation in helping typhoon victims, sending medical staff to affected families brought by typhoon Ondoy. In times of crisis, you will see the real good side of being a Filipino, helping each other to survive.

Girls Rule!: my favorite shoes

In my early days of blogging, my daughters always ask me if I'm going to sell any of those stuff online. That's so funny! Now, they already knew why I'm taking photos of this stuff. I just heard them, "Mom is going to blog shoes," and they're right! :)

I think many girls love shoes and for them shoe shopping is destressing. Well I am not really a shoe person and I don't think I'll spend money for these items. All shoes that I got is simply a thought or a gift delivered right at my doorstep.

some of my dirty sneakers, my running shoes..
I don't have much fashionable shoes, only few and old shoes in a shoebox. But this is my favorite right now, with a little touch of green and gray and gold. A house of dereon shoe worth $95. That is too expensive. Whew. I wouldn't buy this if I am to use my own money for this one. Whew. Lucky to have it for free.

short update

The weather is gloomy today. For some, it's a bed weather day but for me, it is time to stay awake and alert. Classes were suspended earlier because of the rain. It's not raining very hard but the admin decided to cancel because of expected rain to pour again. They are now much aware about news, I am too, especially the latest update about the weather. And who wouldn't? The main concern of most manilenos were about heavy flooding.

I'll try to bloghop more these days. I need to double up my time for the next google update. My blogsite with PR2 drop down to zero and since then I never gained back my PR. I really have no idea about criteria in ranking. I gained my PR2 even before that I have no enough backlinks. When I checked my analytic account, I found out that my traffic increased more these days, but why did it drop down to zero? Most traffic came from entrecard. Thanks to EC dropper. Traffic is very important to those making paid reviews.

I declined one offer from blogvertise since I already have the same post about two months ago. I wonder if it will conflict the rules if I accept the offer again. I love blogsvertise. They offer a much bigger amount for paid reviews. Anyone who knows Blogvertise rules?

Eagles in a Storm

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?

The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.

The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When the storms of life come upon us - and all of us will experience them - we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God's power to lift us above them.

God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm.

Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them.

-Author Unknown-

The Bible says,

"Those who hope in the
Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles."

Isaiah 40:31

girls talk: favorite perfume

Hey, girly talk once again. I always love this meme. Women are born to love shoes and bags. Imeldific as they call it. Let me just include perfume in the list. I'm actually an addict to perfumes but only one stand out and that is Cool Water. The reason why? First, it's so cool,(haha) next, it gives confidence to myself. I am not really very sensitive with perfumes and CW has been my favorite for ages already. I love colognes too. I have some and an addict of VS scent too. My day wouldn't be complete without a spray of this scent.

I always bring with me one small bottle of Cool Water inside my bag. This is a resident perfume in my bag. Love that scent too?

Tuesday Couch Potatoes

Fantasy Adventure
I missed one entry last week, Family Movie. Nevertheless our theme for this week is Fantasy Adventure and my entry though a fantasy film, is also perfect for family.

Brendan Fraser played Trevor Anderson as the visionary scientist in the movie. Together with his nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson) and local guide, Hannah (Anita Briem) Trevor unexpectedly trapped in a cave from which their only escaped is to go deeper and deeper in the depths of the Earth. This movie being a fantasy adventure is also very funny although there are some unimaginable creatures like carnivorous plants, piranha, and dinosaur. The three explorers later realize that only few little time is left with them for volcanic activity is slowly threatening their lives. So all they need to do is to find their way out.

I watched this film for about two or three times together with my kids. We all love this movie, although some parts were a little bit scary, it balanced the humor and lightness of the film. Recommended for family who loves fantasy adventure.

back to back super typhoon

It's Monday and the weather is quite fine although two typhoon are still in the Area of Responsibility, Pepeng, now still in northernmost part of the Philippines and Quedan that is expected to head Japan making a "C-turn." Back to back super typhoon, but Quedan spared our country and that's because God Loves us so much. Prayers can move mountain and so with the storm. Although PAGASA stated some probability that Pepeng would make a U-turn like Reming in 2006, Filipinos remain to be positive despite of the calamities that hit the country.

DVD Mastering Services in Boston

Whenever I hear about Boston, the first thing that comes to my mind is Massachusetts. I remember the song, I'm going back to Massachusetts, by none other than my favorite singer for all time, Bee Gees. But this time, it's more than Massachusetts, it is the capital and largest city in my mind, and that is Boston. It is not only the musician now that we can find in Boston. After searching, I luckily find the most realiable mastering service providers in Boston. And just a perfect timing for my bestfriend who is now in Boston continuing her studies in one of the prestigious university in the area. This came as blessings to me since she'd been asking about this DVD mastering. There are many DVD mastering services that can supply DVD customization and that also furnish a consistent products. DVD mastering is the process that combines different levels of data into a “master” DVD that will later become the final DVD product. The process of mastering is to individualize a DVD and to make it as high quality as possible. The DVD mastering services Boston providers will accommodate any type of mastering project.

DVD Mastering Boston is the most realiable mastering service providers. Look, it wouldn't be hard for her anymore finding a reliable CD Duplication, Digital Offset Printing and DVD screen printing in her area. I sent her the link for her to visit for CD Mastering Boston. You can also visit DVD Mastering in Boston right in this site. They not only master DVDs, but also customize the DVD's to fit the needs depending on how you want it. In making a platinum album, you need to create a master DVD first. And this will answer all that you want in your DVDs. Visit right now and check other services in this area.

scrapbooking

During a week long typhoon holiday, my daughter spent her time scrapbooking. Scrapbooking is simply putting down details of important events or documenting stages of our life. This is not just a photo album but preserving the memories and the story behind each picture. You may also put some memorabilias, certificates, letters, tickets etc.

scrapbooking tools:
glue gun & glue stick, stickers, scissors, creative cutting scissors, glue, simple machine, paper cutter, ruler, adhesives

here comes pepeng..

Today, Pepeng is already hitting the Eastern and Southern part of Luzon. My sister who is in Batangas asked me updates of super typhoon Pepeng. There's no electric power anymore in their place and they are experiencing heavy rainfall as of this moment. PAGASA this morning warned the public to be prepared for typhoon signal # 4. Manila right now is still at calm situation, no rain, no strong wind but I think everyone else is ready for super typhoon that is expected to hit later tonight. Honestly, in the last two days, I have prepared already my survival kit. Call me paranoid, but I think it would be better to get ourselves ready than be sorry later. Who would think that residents of Cainta and Provident Village would experienced walking on the rooftop calling for help after six hours of heavy rainfall. I watched victims of Ondoy a while ago and my heart is crying for them. Sigh. Pepeng is on the way here now but I hope this super typhoon would not make a landfall but rather head to last scenario that PAGASA earlier predicted.

We went earlier this morning in nearby supermarket. I noticed that some items like canned goods, candles, noodles, bottled water were already out of stock. Everybody's panic buying and rushing to buy ready-to-eat food and I wonder if this is awareness or traumatic sign. On my side, it is preparing for the worst scenario but I just realized that we could not bring all of the food we had just in case Pepeng dumps more or the same volume of rain like ONdoys. So this is not awareness anymore. I don't know the exact word to describe to people who are panic buying. Paranoid, overacting or trauma?

after Ondoy comes what?

typhoon Pepeng, another heavy rainfall like Ondoy due to climate change and trauma..
Last Saturday, Ondoy drowned the whole Metro Manila and nearby province like Laguna, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Rizal. The worst hits area were Marikina, Pasig and Cainta. According to PAGASA, typhoon Pepeng already entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of this moment and is expected to hit the Eastern and Northern Luzon area. I live here in Manila and flood is a typical scene whenever heavy rain falls. But unlike the other nearby town Muntinlupa or San Pedro, the flood in Manila subsides in less than three hours. People have adapted the flood already but not the unusual high flooding like Ondoy. It was the first time I have experienced extreme flooding in Manila particularly in Dapitan where flood rises two feet higher than the usual. I wasn't able to take a photo while the flood was waist deep, because I was monitoring and preparing my family to move into a higher place just in case the flood becomes higher still. Today, people becomes paranoid and we can't blame them for the incident and trauma they'd experienced. I just opened a social journal site, and their updates where all about Peping. Some were scared, or have this weird feeling that their heart stops beating because it's raining again. All of them are wishing the rain to stop, including me. In life, there is always a lesson learned after the storm. Now, the people are monitoring the weather condition. Some evacuated already in a higher grounds. They are now more prepared for typhoon Pepeng. We can not prevent natural calamities but we can do something to survive. Brace for stronger and heavy rainfall in the future due to climate change but let us all prepare ourselves to face such emergency.

Lets all do our share in whatever way we can..
Please pray for all the victims of Ondoy.
God loves us so much, He will always listen to our prayers.

GIRLS TALK: My Favorite Bag

I have not updated my blog for a few days already. I just don't want to miss this Thursday meme. I so love bags and I think all women are bag lovers too. Some of my bags were already handed down to my sisters. I don't collect bag, I'm just lucky to have all of these for free, all were given to me as a gift. Just a few days ago, I handed down bags to my sister. I am a SAHM and I only need one bag for special occasion or for malling. And so these bags are for giving away in the next few days.

The sexiest on earth, Victoria Secret..

My favorite organizer bag. If you watch TV shopping, you'll be familiar with this organizer bags with lots of pocket inside.

These two bags, Levis and Polo are my casual get-up bags.
My favorite Tommy Hillfiger bags..
And hey, the last on my favorite bags but not the least is a recycle bag! Just last week I bought a pair of Levis and they use an eco- friendly re-usable bag so I keep this. To take my part to save mother earth, I use recycle bag.

thanks so much!!

I was supposed to post my last entry for September but I can't believe it is already October. I missed a lot here. My thoughts were occupied by so many things. I just can't blog much and I'm afraid that it will take more days or months before Mr. G grants my PR2 again. Thank you so much for visiting and supporting my blogs. I promise to visit you back very very soon. Goodnight!
